Simple Evergreen Wreath

I love decorating for Christmas.  We got a nice noble fir Christmas tree.  I have been having fun with the branches you cut off the bottom of the tree to put it in the Christmas tree stand.  Making a wreath is one of the easiest things you can do in floral design.

To make this wreath you will need:

round wire frame
24 gauge floral wire
wire cutters
clippers
bow/ ribbon

To start take the branches from your tree and cut off small pieces (about 4-5 inches long).

See how one branch can give lots of material for the wreath?

Take the wire frame and attach the wire and then take several pieces of evergreen and form a small clump.  Make sure all the ends are facing the same way...

Take the clump and attach it to the wire frame by wrapping around the stem part 2 times.

Continue adding small clumps of evergreen as you work around the wreath.

Make sure to alternate where you places these bunches  (i.e. one in the middle, one on the outside, one on the inside)

Work your way around the wreath until you come to the beginning.  After you tie off the wire add a bow or any kind of fun decorations.  This wreath smells so good and I love getting a whiff of the tree smell when I come to the front door...

The True Meaning of Christmas Charlie Brown style...

It is so easy during the Christmas season to get caught up in the frenzied pace of buying/making gifts and lose sight of the real reason we have Christmas.  Just stop. Pause.  Dwell on the fact that the Son of God left heaven to be born as a baby in a world marred by sin, suffering and selfishness.  His life and death has brought us a chance to become children of a holy God.  I love the Charlie Brown Christmas movie's explanation.  Scripture says it all...
